The "S" Cube is a "hands-on" approach to helping P4-7 and
S1 pupils understand how renewable energy works. It contains a solar panel and allows pupils to power a torch
or thermometer, hook up a capacitor and voltmeter to learn more about the energy of the sun.
The Funmaths Roadshow is a collection of 350 interactive mathematical puzzles for use with school children, students and university
undergraduates between the ages of 10 and 20. The resource has been developed by the Liverpool Mathematical Society.
We have boxes of K'Nex available, an indispensable resource for budding engineers if your school is competing in the K'Nex Challenge
2011.
Pupils can progress from the basic level of simple stationary structures with no moving parts, through structures with
movement using rotation and moving into more complex machinery and hand driven mechanisms.
The telescope is a 70mm refractor, which comes with a tripod and several eyepieces. To help teachers take full advantage of the
telescope, there is a DVD showing how to set up the telescope, use a star chart, what you can see,
and how to plan your observations.
The James Dyson Foundation education box is a disassembly and product analysis resource.
CD of Science Experiments
A number of easy to follow science experiments.
Build your own solar powered car from the kits provided.
The solar kits include everything needed to build a model solar car.
The solar car converts the sun's energy directly into electricity, but don't worry if there's no sun, we have lamps
that can provide enough energy to power the cars.
The kit provides an exciting and inspirng educational
tool which helps to teach science, design & technology and renewable energy concepts.
FREE support and resources to help you with an after-school or lunchtime club related
to any sort of STEM activity, eg Young Engineers and Science Club, Astronomy Club, Maths Club, Food
Technology Club, Camera Club?
The Scottish Government has established a website at
www.infoscotland.com/science
which includes descriptions of experiments, quizzes and games, as well as lots of science career-related information. The site will
tell you what this science stuff is all about!
